{may fabulous finds} music we love
It's time for us to share a few of our favorite tunes for the month of May! You'll want to check these out. Promise!
Steph: Zee Avi 'Ghostbird'
I've been a fan of Zee Avi for awhile now. Her last self titled album was on constant repeat for longer then I'd like to admit, so naturally I was excited to see her come out with a new album...and it doesn't disappoint.
Cate: Santigold ' Master of My Make-Believe'
Perfect for waking up. Perfect for driving (with the windows down). Perfect for running. Basically perfect, all of the time. This might sit at the top of my charts for awhile.
I'm thinking next month, maybe we make a mix? What do you think?

new folded cards
After much consideration and thought, we've decided to follow your advice and offer our Modern Thank You Notes as a folded card. It truly is the perfect (and simple) way to say thanks. So, for those of you who'd like a more traditional greeting card (or for those who just need a little more room to write) we now offer the folded version in our Etsy shop in singles or in packages of 8. Don't fret though, our flat notes are still available as well!
- Steph + Cate
P.S: With the new card, we've also updated our envelopes to a true gray, rather then a blue/gray. We're pretty jazzed about the look!

{may fabulous finds} blogs/sites we love
Steph: The Everygirl
I'm not even sure how to describe The Everygirl. Is it a blog? A Magazine? Who knows! But I do know it's the must have resource for, well, every girl! It is overflowing with information on fashion, work, food, advice, you name it. It's just chalk-full of good stuff.
Cate: The Vamoose
This blog is one of my go-to's for color and composition inspiration. Check out her post on cool hues, it might be my favorite!

{a week on instagram}
It's been a week of crazy twists and surprises, but all things considered, we're just happy to have made it to Friday in one piece! Outside one unfortunate incident, this week Cate and I were still able to attend a launch party for this book and learned all about the makings of the Gilt Group business, printed a few new Father's Day Cards, and packaged a number of Etsy orders. We're seriously ready for the weekend. Seriously.

Did you see the eclipse on Sunday? Seattle decided to be hazy (typical!) But I loved soaking up all of these images from across the West.

on the bright side...
I had a completely different post planned for today, but a fender-bender last night (and by 'fender-bender', I mean me being rear-ended while sitting at a stop light) kind of put a damper on my blogging plans for the day. On the upside, I wasn't seriously hurt, nor was my car (although I can't entirely say the same for the car that hit me). On the downside, getting into a car accident really has a way with messing with your plans. I'm still hoping to share some other fun projects this week, but you may have to bear with me a day or two while I deal with some other stuff. Oh life...isn't it funny sometimes?
P.S: I saw this poster on Etsy today...kind of perfect timing wouldn't you say?

{typography tuesday}
Poor Cate is feeling a bit under the weather today, so I'm stepping in to present this weeks Typography Tuesday. It could just be the rainy days we've been having lately, or maybe it's just the beautiful simplicity of these designs...whatever it is, I'm loving everything about Belmondo's packaging. The use of a handwritten font keeps their products looking fresh and very approachable. Love.

new greetings
Good Morning! It's a predictably rainy morning here in Seattle (I swear...where did the beautiful weather go?!) but that's okay, we're still all smiles. Why? Because we've got new cards in the Etsy shop! As we completely ditched out on Mother's Day this year (shameful, I know), we thought we'd get a jump start on our Father's Day celebrations. You can learn more about the cards here and here. They're the perfect greeting for your perfect man.
We've got a few other things to share this week, so make sure to check in! In the meantime, here's wishing you a lovely Monday.

{a week on instagram}
We'll we have made it to another Friday. Although we made some progress in the studio this week, most of our time was spent catching up on administrative tasks that went untouched after my bout with a cold. Lucky for you though, we have some fun things to share next week. In the meantime I am going to hop back to work! See you all on Monday.

new buttons
Just wanted to drop by this afternoon and point out some fun new changes on the Dahlia Press Blog. Thanks to Ana and her team at Blog Milk we have some fabulous new social media buttons! We couldn't be more excited. Which brings me to my next point...we are 10 people away from 200 'likes' on Facebook! We would love to meet that goal of 200 fans, so if you haven't already, please stop by our Facebook page and give us a thumbs up, and of course, tell your friends to stop by as well!

alive and well
Hi blog word. I know, it's been a few days since we've been in touch. I apologize for my absence last week, I was run down by a nasty little cold and it completely took away my desire to do anything but lay in bed and watch movies. The bad news - I got absolutely zero done. The good news - I'm feeling better and am ready to join the land of the living...and, I'm fully caught up on all things television.P.S: We watched the movie Hesher over the weekend. I'm still not entirely sure of my review of the flick, but I really liked the quote above.

I've been discovering so many great posters lately. Is it bad that I secretly want to move into a bigger place just for the wall real-estate? Here are a few of my favorites this week..

friday cocktails
Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo, and what better way to celebrate then with a Margarita? I like to keep mine simple and classic with just touch of salt on the rim. Enjoy!
The Classic Margarita
3 ounces tequila
2 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce simple syrup or agave nectar
1 tsp triple sec
ice
salt
Salt the rim of your glass by wetting the rim with a lime wedge and then dipping the rim into a plate of salt. Mix the first 4 ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake well and pour into your salt rimmed glass. Enjoy!

Oh boy, I'm not sure where this week went and to think it's already Friday! Not to fret though, this week isn't completely over yet. I'll be back later this afternoon with another post. In the meantime, enjoy a few pics from this week. xoxo - Steph + Cate

Check out this incredible experiment by Tien-Min Liao exploring the relationship between upper and lower-case letters.
In this experiment, I drew shapes with ink on one or both of my hands, manipulating my gestures into the corresponding shape to signify an upper-case letter. Then, using the same shape on my hands, I manipulated my gesture or changed the perspective through which the shape is viewed in orderto transform the upper-case letter to a lower-case of the same letter. Removing or redrawing the darkened shape on my hands is not allowed in the experiment. The only way to make the model transform from an upper-case to a lower-case (or vice versa) is changing the gestures or the perspectives...
